I started editing at a small national magazine, gaining experience in all levels of editing, brainstorming themes and story ideas, liaising with writers, proofreading finals, and managing publishing workflow. I also took on feature writing, advertising and newsletter design, and development of other publications, and I left as managing editor.

I went on to establish Think Communications, where I help a range of clients, from authors and publishers to nonprofits, government bodies and businesses, connect meaningfully with their readers.

I’ve worked on magazines, books, websites, reports, essays, theses, newsletters, social media and online learning, and on incredibly diverse subjects. See Portfolio.

Other word-wonk stuff
I have an Honours BA in English and Cultural Studies.

I’m a long-time member of Editors Canada, the professional organization for Canadian editors, and I’ve taken on many supporting roles with them. I recently won the President’s Award for my volunteer work over the years.

I’m a past director of the Stephen Leacock Associates, which oversees the Leacock Memorial Medal for Canadian literary humour and its $25,000 cash prize, and also revamped its website (since revised) and launched its social media platforms.
